The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Wednesday to its highest amount since Oct. 2, 2023, increasing 1.7 cents to $6.258.
The average price has increased 36 consecutive days, increasing 61.6 cents, including 2.3 cents Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 16.9 cents more than one week ago, 58.4 cents higher than one month ago and $1.528 greater than one year ago.
The average price has increased $1.564 since the start of the joint U.S./Israel war on Iran on Feb. 28, which sent oil prices higher and drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.
The Orange County average price rose to its highest amount since Sept. 29, 2023, increasing 2.2 cents to $6.246. It has also increased for 36 consecutive days, rising 67.1 cents, including 3.2 cents Tuesday.
The Orange County average price is 17.7 cents more than one week ago, 61.5 cents higher than one month ago and $1.543 greater than one year ago. It has increased $1.61 since the start of the war on Iran.
The national average price dropped one-tenth of a cent to $4.474, one day after a run of 21 increases in 22 days totaling 40.1 cents ended with a decrease of three-tenths of a cent. It is 10.7 cents more than one week ago, 37.6 cents higher than one month ago and $1.303 greater than one year ago.
The national average price has increased $1.492 since the attack on Iran.
The national average price is at its highest amount this late in the calendar year, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
