Flames engulfed a commercial building in downtown Los Angeles Thursday, largely destroying the structure, but no injuries were immediately reported.
The fire was reported around 3:35 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of Santa Fe Avenue at a commercial building about 75 feet by 50 feet, with reports that the structure had burned previously, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz said fire crews were forced into a defensive posture due to the intensity of the flames, battling the fire from the exterior.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
