A pavement preservation project on State Route 111 in Palm Springs is scheduled to be underway mid October, officials announced Saturday.

The California Department of Transportation will begin work on the $3.2 million project on Oct. 16 from Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Caltrans officials announced.

During the project, Caltrans will conduct pavement resurfacing with pre-coated aggregate, asphalt rubber binder and traffic stripe tape on SR-111 from the Sonny Bono Memorial (10) Freeway to .4 miles west of Tramway Road.

Caltrans announced that single lane closures will be expected during operations, but one lane will remain open in each direction at all times.

The road work was funded through Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
