A survey opened Friday asking Riverside residents to submit their thoughts and preferences regarding what they want to see in the ideal candidate to serve as city manager.
“Selecting Riverside’s next city manager is one of the most important decisions we will make as a City Council,” Councilman Steve Robillard said. “We need an experienced, capable leader, who values transparency, accountability and delivering results for our residents.”
Robillard is heading the recruitment process, which will further entail a public forum on Oct. 21, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Riverside Municipal Airport terminal, 6951 Flight Road. Residents will have opportunities to ask questions and offer their personal opinions about who to hire.
The online city survey will be open until Oct. 23. It can be accessed at riversideca.events/community-events/riverside-city-council-seeks-community-input-on-next-city-manager/.
There are both English and Spanish versions available.
“It’s important that our community has a voice in this process, and I encourage residents, business owners and other stakeholders to share their thoughts on the qualities and priorities they want to see in our next city manager,” Robillard said.
“Ultimately, our goal is to find someone who can work effectively with the City Council, lead our organization and help move Riverside forward.”
The council has put Tustin-based Jacob Green & Associates in charge of the recruitment campaign.
Mike Futrell resigned as city manager in June amid tensions stemming from a disciplinary probe. He has since been hired into a similar position in the Bay Area.
Thomas Hatch is serving as the interim city manager.
