AMC Global Media, the company behind the zombie franchise “The Walking Dead,” has settled a lawsuit in Los Angeles from the show’s creator and producers for $120 million, according to court papers obtained Wednesday.

The lawsuit over profit participation rights was originally filed four years ago by “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman and other producers on the show, including Glen Mazzara, David Alpert, Charles Eglee and Gale Anne Hurd.

According to an announcement this week, the parties agreed to “the amicable resolution of all their remaining claims and litigation” related to “The Walking Dead” franchise.

AMC disclosed the agreement Tuesday in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. The filing stated the company agreed to pay Kirkman and the other plaintiffs $120 million in total — $85 million paid out this month, and the remaining $35 million next year.

The producers filed the complaint in November 2022 in Los Angeles Superior Court, and it moved to federal court the following month.

The suit centered on modified adjusted gross receipts, or MAGR, the formula that determines what a show’s profit participants are actually owed.
