[symple_googlemap title=”Burbank Crash” location=”Buena Vista Street and San Fernando Road, Burbank, CA” height=”300″ zoom=”18″]A Metrolink train smashed into car in Burbank today, crumpling the vehicle and sending the driver to a hospital in critical condition.
The collision occurred at 3:17 p.m. at Buena Vista Street and San Fernando Road, according to Burbank police Officer Joshua Kendrick.
Kendrick said the car was being driven southbound on Buena Vista when it collided with the train at San Fernando Road.
“We do not know if the arms were up on the train (crossing) or the man drove around them,” Kendrick said.
He said some people on the train, which didn’t stop until a quarter-mile south of the collision, were being treated for neck pain and other minor complaints.
The California Highway Patrol closed the north- and south-bound off ramps from the Golden State (5) Freeway at Buena Vista while the investigation continued.
