A man was killed Friday morning when a vehicle crashed in Elysian Park.

Paramedics were sent to the 800 block of West Academy Road about 8:15 a.m., authorities said.

A man in his 40s, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene, said Los Angeles police Officer Drake Madison of the Media Relations office. The driver and a second passenger were transported to the hospital in critical condition, he said.

The circumstances of the crash were under investigation.
