Sheriff’s deputies called for sharpshooters to end a daylong standoff with a Lancaster man who allegedly leveled a rifle at a member of an eviction team this morning.
The man, whose name was being withheld, pointed a rifle at someone at his home in the 14300 block of Fourth Street East about 10:30 a.m., according to sheriff’s deputies with the Court Services Division.
It was unclear if anyone other than the man, described as about 50 years old, was in the home as the standoff dragged into the afternoon. About 5 p.m., sheriff’s deputies with a special weapons team called for sharpshooters.
Nearby El Dorado Elementary School was locked down as a precaution, but parents were allowed to pick up their children on the campus’ northwest corner. Deputies also evacuated a preschool.
