The body of a 33-year-old Pomona-area transient found in the trunk of a car in Riverside showed no obvious signs of trauma, and Riverside County coroner’s investigators deferred the cause of death, pending toxicology tests, police said today.

The body of Miguel Angel Perez was found in the trunk of a Lexus outside a Walmart in Riverside Saturday afternoon by a Pomona woman, who told authorities she recognized the man but had no idea how he ended up dead in her trunk, Pomona police Sgt. Steve Congalton.

Though Pomona police are handling the investigation into Perez’s death, the autopsy was done at the Riverside County coroner’s office.

When the woman opened the trunk of car to load some groceries outside the Walmart, she found the body.
