Two men were shot in El Monte early Monday and one of them died at a hospital, a sheriff’s deputy said.
The shooting occurred at 12:49 a.m. in the 2600 block of Sastre Avenue, said Dep. Crystal Hernandez of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.
“Detectives learned both victims were passengers in a vehicle parked on the 2600 block of Sastre Avenue when two suspects approached on foot and fired into the vehicle at the victims,” Hernandez said. The suspects then fled, she said.
“Both victims were transported to local hospitals where one victim was pronounced dead and the second victim is in unknown condition,” Hernandez said.
Homicide detectives were on the scene assisting El Monte police with the homicide investigation, she said.
