A worker delivering propane to an industrial customer in Boyle Heights was critically burned on Tuesday in a “flashover” explosion.
Paramedics sent to Ekco Metals in the 1700 block South Perrino Place about 11:50 a.m. took the man to a hospital with burns over most of his body, Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The man was driving a “large single tank propane service truck” and in the process of filling a large tank when the accident occurred, Humphrey said.
The man, about 40, suffered second- and third-degree burns, Humphrey said. The circumstances of the accident were under investigation, and Cal/OSHA was notified, Humphrey said. The business address is 2777 E. Washington Blvd.
