A convicted sex offender who allegedly impersonated an undercover police officer and sexually assaulted a woman in Torrance pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to rape and other charges.

Guy Allen Dietz, 43, of Calabasas is charged with one count each of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and sexual penetration by foreign object in connection with the alleged attack Aug. 28.

Prosecutors said Dietz arranged to have a woman come to a home in Torrance, then showed her a badge and handcuffs and claimed to be an undercover police officer before sexually assaulting her.

The woman eventually escaped and called police, authorities said.

Authorities began looking for Dietz, and the California Highway Patrol spotted him near King City in Monterey County Aug. 29. Dietz allegedly led CHP officers and Monterey County sheriff’s deputies on a chase the ended in Soledad, where he ditched his vehicle and ran. He was eventually spotted walking on a Soledad street and arrested hours later, authorities said.

Dietz remains jailed while awaiting a hearing Oct. 9 to determine if there is enough evidence for him to stand trial.

He has a 1998 rape conviction and two drug-related convictions in 2005 and 2010, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
