A man from Los Angeles County wanted for a hit-and- run collision which caused major injuries was arrested in Illinois after a routine traffic stop there, authorities said Wednesday.
The collision occurred on July 13 at 11:53 p.m. on the westbound Ventura (101) Freeway east of Sepulveda Boulevard.
Officers determined that a BMW collided with a Honda CRV at a high rate of speed and the driver fled the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP investigators were able to identify the suspect as Chauncey Alexander Hollis and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force filed a warrant for his arrest.
Boone County sheriff’s deputies stopped Hollis during a traffic stop on Tuesday and discovered the warrant from Los Angeles.
Hollis was arrested and is awaiting extradition.
