A 43-year-old man is being held for psychological evaluation after he rammed his pickup truck into commercial buildings and at least one vehicle in Santa Fe Springs, police said.

The incidents occurred at a shopping mall at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Norwalk Boulevard around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Jay Tatman of the Whittier Police Department, which patrols Santa Fe Springs.

At least one of the vehicles and one of the businesses, a Food 4 Less store, were occupied when they were struck by the pickup, but no one was injured, Tatman said, adding that the driver also rammed his vehicle into a Citibank building in the same area.

Tatman said the driver was detained.

“We’ve taken him to be evaluated to see if he can take care of himself,” Tatman said.
