A six year-old boy died Thursday after being stabbed in the unincorporated Florence Firestone neighborhood.
The attack occurred in the 1600 block of E. 88th St., said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Deputy Trina Schrader. The child’s father — screaming incoherently and covered in blood — was taken into custody at the scene, according to broadcast reports.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detective said the child was found at the rear of the residence with multiple stab wounds following a call to law enforcement around midnight.
Deputies performed CPR on the boy and paramedics later transported him St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, where he died, according to Schrader.
The motive for stabbing the boy was not immediately reported.
