Officers responding to a 911 call found the victim at 2:26 a.m. inside his apartment in the 7300 block of Florence Avenue, Downey police Lt. Mark McDaniel said.
The man died at the scene, according to McDaniel. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Downey homicide detectives detained an unidentified woman at the scene, McDaniel said. Her relationship to the victim was not immediately clear.
