The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Friday sought the public’s help in identifying two women believed responsible for a rash of mail thefts in the Palmdale area over the past several months.

The majority of the mail thefts occurred in the early morning hours on the west side of the city, according to Palmdale sheriff’s station. The suspects pried open community mail boxes and took incoming and outgoing mail, according to investigators.

They made their getaway in a light-colored 1997 to 2003 model Dodge Durango.

The suspects were described as white or Hispanic, one of them heavyset and the other with a thin build.

Palmdale station detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the mail thefts or the suspects’ identities to call them at (661) 272-2477.
