A homicide investigation are underway into the death of a 69-year-old woman who was found in a Torrance apartment where an injured man with whom she was allegedly acquainted was taken into custody.
Officers found the woman dead shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, when they responded to a man down call in the 3800 block of 226th Street, said Torrance police Sgt. Paul Kranke. They also found the man, 47, with “several injuries,” Kranke said.
The victim was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as Rafaela DeCass of Torrance.
“The injured male subject found in the apartment is in custody for murder and is known to the victim,” Kranke said, adding there are no outstanding suspects. His name was not immediately released.
Kranke referred additional questions to the Torrance police Detective Division, but no one there was immediately available for comment.
