A man was fatally shot in the courtyard of an apartment complex in Hawthorne Tuesday.
The shooting in the 13600 block of Kornblum Avenue was reported at 11:56 a.m., a deputy with the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau said.
The victim, shot in the upper body, was declared dead at the scene.
According to published reports, the victim may have traded shots with the killer.
Sheriff’s detectives were overseeing the homicide investigation for Hawthorne police.
