A woman who allegedly stabbed her 87-year-old father to death in the Castaic home they shared pleaded not guilty Thursday to a murder charge.

Denise Ann Gillis, 48, is charged in the killing of her father, James, who was found dead inside his bedroom Sept. 5.

Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the home in the 31900 block of Emerald Lane for a welfare check, and found the octogenarian unconscious with stab wounds to his upper body.

The man also had injuries to his head that had allegedly been inflicted a day earlier, authorities said.

His daughter — who has remained jailed since her arrest Sept. 5 — is due back in a San Fernando courtroom Oct. 27.

Gillis faces a maximum of 26 years to life in state prison if convicted as charged, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
