The driver of a vintage roadster was hospitalized in critical condition after being ejected from the vehicle in a multi-vehicle crash in Burbank early Friday morning that temporarily shut down freeway lanes on the Golden State (5) Freeway.
The three-car collision closed the northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway for almost two hours.
It happened about 2:10 a.m. just north of the East Olive Avenue exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
An ABC7 report said the 1944 roadster struck the freeway center divider for unknown reasons, ejecting the driver. Two other vehicles then collided with the disabled roadster.
The roadster did not have seatbelts, authorities said.
Two of the northbound freeway lanes were reopened at 4:06 a.m. according to the CHP. All lanes were cleared and reopened around 5 a.m.
