The Coroner’s Office Saturday publicly named the 43-year- old man who was fatally shot in the courtyard of an apartment complex in Hawthorne last week.
Rheuben Amos was gunned down in the 13600 block of Kornblum Avenue, said Coroner’s Lt. David Smith.
The shooting was reported at 11:56 a.m. Tuesday, a deputy with the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau said.
Amos, who was shot in the upper body, was declared dead at the scene. According to published reports, Amos may have traded shots with the killer.
Sheriff’s detectives were overseeing the homicide investigation for Hawthorne police.
