Three overdue hikers were found safe and sound early Tuesday on the slopes of Mt. Baldy, authorities said.

The three men, all aged 26, were found at 12:40 a.m., said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Nicole Davis.

No injuries were reported, and the men were being transported to San Antonio Dam in Upland, on the fringe of the Angeles National Forest.

The search was organized Monday night after one of the missing men contacted San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department to say they were in an area that they were finding difficult to leave. A search and rescue crew was dispatched around 9:50 p.m. Davis said.

The hikers’ destination was a point about a half-mile west of the San Bernardino County line in the Angeles National Forest, Davis said.
