A dock worker fell into the hull of a cargo ship at the Port of Los Angeles early Thursday and was hospitalized with serious injuries, authorities said.
The worker fell 15 feet into the hold around 12:30 a.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Katherine Main. Firefighters had to perform a rope rescue to extricate the worker, she said.
The name of the cargo ship or its country of origin were not immediately reported.
