A suspect in his late 20s was being treated for unknown injuries early Wednesday after being taken into custody by a sheriff’s SWAT team following an eight-hour barricade situation inside a house in Monrovia.
The suspect, believed to have been armed with a knife, confronted a woman in the house in the 2300 block of California Avenue, deputies with the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau said.
Deputies were notified about the intruder about 10:30 a.m. Monday, and the woman escaped the home unharmed, deputies said.
The suspect was taken into custody about 6 p.m. after being forced out by tear gas fired by a sheriff’s Special Weapons Team.
No further information was available about the suspect’s condition.
