Four men posing as police officers made off with $20,000 worth of jewelry, cash and other items from a home invasion in Reseda Friday night.
The robbery occurred around 8:15 p.m. in the 19400 block of Vanowen Street, between Tampa and Corbin avenues, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. David Madof said.
A suspect knocked at the front door of the home and told the woman who answered they were police officers who needed to search it, Madof said.
A suspect had a police patch embroidered on his shirt, Madof said.
A suspect ordered the woman to wait in a rear bedroom, Madof said.
“She thought they were officers and she was doing what she was told,” Madof said.
The suspects took cash, jewelry and miscellaneous items including backpacks with a total estimated value of $20,000, Madof said.
The woman was not injured, Madof said.
The woman described one suspect as a man between 20 and 30 years old, Madof said.
