A 48-year-old woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run motorist Saturday in North Hollywood.
The woman had been pushing a shopping cart across the 7200 block of Lankershim Boulevard, outside a crosswalk, when she was struck at 2:15 a.m., Los Angeles police Sgt. M. Whittemore said.
The suspect’s car, a newer white Mercedes Benz, had been going north in the number two lane when it struck the woman, who had been pushing a shopping car in a northeast direction, according to a Los Angeles Police Department news statement.
The driver continued going north and then turned east on Valerio Street.
Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene, according to police. Her name will be released after notification of next of kin.
LAPD Valley Traffic detectives asked anyone who saw the crash, or who know of the damaged Mercedes, to call them at (818) 644-8031.
