A 27-year-old man considered armed and dangerous was on the loose today after he allegedly killed a man and wounded a woman in a shooting Sunday morning during a fight outside a Palmdale home where a birthday party was taking place.

It happened at 12:20 a.m. in the 1600 block of East Avenue Q-6, said Deputy Peter Gomez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

“Detectives have learned that a birthday party was being hosted at the location when an argument turned into a physical altercation in the front yard,” Gomez said.

The suspect, Alejandro Rivera of Palmdale, is suspected of “retrieving a firearm” and shooting 24-year-old Miguel Perez and an unidentified woman, he said.

Perez was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was in stable condition at an area hospital, Gomez said.

Rivera, who “should be considered armed and dangerous,” fled in a silver or beige Honda, he said.

Anyone with information was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Anonymous tips can be left by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
