Authorities on Monday publicly identified a woman who was stabbed to death by a man who chased her down a street before attacking her with a broken glass bottle.

Francine Camarillo, 25, of Los Angeles, died at a hospital following the Friday night attack, which occurred at 7:50 p.m. in the 1200 block of West 36th Place, according to the coroner’s office and police.

The location is two blocks west of USC, but campus police said there was no apparent connection to the school’s staff or students.

A suspect was arrested for an unrelated offense late that night, but was not held for the murder.

“We’re still looking for a suspect,” said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations section.
