Seven people were injured Wednesday morning on a freeway transition road east of downtown Los Angeles in a multi-vehicle crash that involved a truck that overturned and one that spilled its load of molasses, authorities said.
The crash was reported on the transition road from the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway to the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway about 5:50 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.
At least four vehicles were involved in the crash, including a truck that overturned and one hauling a load of molasses, the CHP reported.
Seven people were transported for hospital treatment, five with minor injuries and two with “more serious” injuries, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The transition road remained closed until about 7:30 a.m., when one of the lanes was reopened. The remaining lanes were reopened about three hours later, the CHP reported.
