A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department helicopter made a precautionary landing in a Florence-Firestone park Thursday after its crew heard a grinding sound coming from the aircraft.

The helicopter, designated Air 7 by the Sheriff’s Aero Bureau, made the landing about 1:45 p.m. in the soccer field of Franklin D. Roosevelt Park at 7600 Graham Avenue, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Morrio Zager.

No one was in the area of the soccer field at the time of the landing and no one was injured aboard the helicopter, which underwent a minor repair by Aero Bureau maintenance personnel and was flown out of the park, Zager said.
