A man was arrested  in Whittier on suspicion of DUI Monday morning after he backed his car into a police cruiser, police said.

The incident occurred at 1:48 a.m. in the 13300 block of Wardman Street, said Whittier police Lt. Aaron Ruiz.

“The officer pulled behind the vehicle to investigate erratic driving and as he was stopped the vehicle backed into the police vehicle,” Ruiz said.

“Damage was minor to both vehicles and there were no injuries, but upon further investigation it was determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol,” the lieutenant said.

A pipe used to smoke marijuana and a container with a substance believed to be marijuana were found inside the car, Ruiz said.

The driver, identified as 38-year-old Arthur Burrola of Whittier, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, the lieutenant said.
