Man shot in leg after refusing robbers’ demands in South L.A.

A robber shot a man in the leg in South Los Angeles when he refused to give up his property, police said Tuesday.

The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of West 61st Street between Figueroa and Hoover streets, said Sgt. Rudy Alaniz of the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Street Station.

The man was approached by two robbers, Alaniz said.

“He didn’t give up his property” so he was shot in the leg, he said. “It’s not worth it,”

The victim was taken to a hospital where he had stable vital signs, he said.

The robbers fled the scene, Alaniz said.
