The California Highway Patrol on Wednesday asked the public’s help in finding the driver of a black SUV that fatally struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk in South Los Angeles.
The SUV was headed south on Vermont Avenue at 110th Street when it struck 20-year-old Luis Guerro about 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 3, California Highway Patrol Officer Daniel Zuleta said.
Guerro was declared dead at UCLA-Harbor Medical Center about 20 minutes later.
The SUV may have been a Mazda, Zuleta said.
He said that photos and video of the SUV have not been been enhanced, but detectives are working to better identify the vehicle and possibly isolate an image of the license plate.
Anyone with more information about the accident was asked to call detectives at (310) 642-3939.
