The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department asked for the public’s help Wednesday to locate a missing 74-year-old woman with dementia who was last seen walking from her residence in the unincorporated Willowbrook area.
Shirley Mitchell was last seen at about 9 a.m. Monday leaving her residence in the 400 block of East 127th Street, near Avalon Boulevard, said Deputy Kelvin Moody of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.
Mitchell “suffers from dementia, is easily confused and walks slowly with a side-to-side gait,” Moody said.
Mitchell is described as black, 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown eyes and short black hair, Moody said.
“She was last seen wearing a long green skirt with a black shirt and a bracelet with her house key,” Moody said.
Anyone with information on Mitchell’s whereabouts was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Anonymous tips can be phoned in to (800) 222-TIPS (8477) or made through the website lacrimestoppers.org.
