A robbery suspect who targeted a 67-year-old woman earlier this month has been arrested in South Los Angeles.

Dewayne Allen Taylor, 37, of Los Angeles was arrested Thursday in the 1500 block of 48th Place and booked on suspicion of robbery, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspect allegedly loitered around a bank near Jefferson and Crenshaw boulevards at 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 1, surveyed several potential victims and then chose a 67-year-old woman. When she left the bank, he followed her to her residence in the 3000 block of 10th Avenue.

She got out, he strode past her, casually greeting her, then quickly turned, pushed her to the ground and took her purse. He drove away in a late 1990s model faded dark blue Nissan Altima.

Detectives were also investigating another strong-armed robbery five days earlier just blocks away. Both victims gave similar descriptions of the suspect. They also urge other possible victims to notify them.

Anyone with information on the case should call Detective Gerald Harden at (213) 485-2562.
