Authorities on Sunday publicly identified a 39-year-old man who died at the scene after being shot multiple times in Compton.
The victim, identified by the coroner’s office as Roscoe Lee Smith of Gardena, was shot in the 600 block of West Cherry Street by a suspect who exited the passenger side of a vehicle and opened fire at 9:35 p.m. Friday, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Trina Schrader said.
The the victim was struck five times in the upper and lower torso, she said
The suspect fled in a light-colored vehicle of unknown type.
No arrests in the case have been announced.
