A former child care worker pleaded no contest Monday to sexually molesting four children, three of whom attended a Boyle Heights day care center owned by his wife.

Enrique Ramos, 46, pleaded to five felony counts of lewd acts upon a child and admitted that the molestation occurred while he was a day care worker.

Ramos has been jailed since his arrest Feb. 21, 2013, by Los Angeles police detectives with the Hollenbeck Sex Crimes Unit. As counts were added against him, bail was increased from $1.3 million to $2.3 million.

Ramos was initially charged with three counts of lewd act upon a child involving three girls between June 2008 and Feb. 5, 2013. Two of the girls were 5 years old and one was 8 years old at the time of the crimes, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Two charges were later added involving a 5-year-old boy — one felony count of oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 years or younger and one felony count of lewd act upon a child. Prosecutors said those crimes occurred between August 2012 and December 2012.

As part of the plea deal, one additional count of lewd act was added and the charge of oral copulation or sexual penetration was dropped.

Ramos is set to be sentenced Nov. 17 and faces up to 22 years in prison.

In February 2013, police said that the day care center was closed by the state Department of Social Services.
