The driver of a fuel truck that ran into an unoccupied American Airlines jet on a tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport late Monday afternoon had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to a hospital.
The crash occurred at 4:18 p.m. outside Terminal 4, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The driver’s condition and the cause of the collision weren’t known. But Scott said “it could have been much worse,” noting there was no fire or significant fuel leak.
Forty firefighters responded.
