A former cop who pleaded no contest to embezzling money from the Arcadia Police Officers’ Association while serving as its treasurer turned himself in Wednesday to begin serving a 180-day jail term.
Christian Eric Blesch, 37, surrendered in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom.
He pleaded no contest July 18 to a felony count of grand theft by embezzlement, and was sentenced Sept. 30 to the 180-day jail term and three years probation.
Blesch has paid nearly $42,000 in restitution to the association.
Blesch — who was elected in January 2011 as the association’s treasurer — used its credit card to buy parts and accessories for his own motorcycles and other items such as clothing, exercise equipment, shaving accessories and cigars, said Deputy District Attorney Geoffrey Rendon.
Blesch then paid the monthly credit card bills via the association’s checking account, according to the prosecutor.
He resigned from the Arcadia Police Department in September 2013, the same month the criminal case was filed against him.
