Man struck riding go-kart in South L.A. hit-and-run hospitalized

A man riding a go-kart was struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Green Meadows area of South Los Angeles Wednesday and hospitalized, authorities said.

The 21-year-old man was riding the go-kart southbound on Stanford Avenue and ran a red light before being struck by the vehicle at the intersection with Imperial Highway around 1 a.m., said Los Angeles police Sgt. Ralph Alvarez. He suffered a compound leg fracture, he said.

A description of the hit-and-run vehicle was not immediately available, Alvarez said.
