A sedan rear-ended a big rig on the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Pomona Wednesday, sending two people to the hospital, authorities said.

One of the victims was airlifted from the crash site, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman.

The accident occurred near North Towne Avenue around 2:40 a.m., briefly closing three lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol’s online incident log.

The vehicle that struck the big rig appeared to be an early-model Toyota Camry, a news videographer reported from the scene.   Neither the names of the victims nor details about their injuries were immediately released.
