A stubborn fire raged in Boyle Heights Thursday causing extensive damage to a commercial building containing four businesses, fire officials said.

More than 100 Los Angeles City and County firefighters took 2 1/4 hours to knock down the blaze in the 3700 block of Whittier Boulevard.

No one was injured in the fire, but a Los Angeles City Fire Department firefighter was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The fire was reported around 12:15 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol online incident log.

Witnesses said they believe the blaze broke out in a carpentry shop in the one-story building, then spread, a news videographer reported from the scene.
