A passenger in a vehicle involved in a crash with an alleged DUI driver was killed on a San Bernardino (10) Freeway off-ramp in Rosemead, and the suspect was later arrested after fleeing the scene on foot.

The crash happened about 11:15 p.m. Friday on the northbound Rosemead Boulevard off-ramp from the eastbound side of the freeway, said California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Cassidy.

A passenger in a vehicle involved in the crash died at East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital and the driver of that vehicle was hospitalized with major injuries, Cassidy said.

The suspect driver was arrested at home and booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, she said. That person’s name was not immediately available.

He is a man who fled the scene on foot, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, which reported that the vehicles ended up down an embankment following the crash.
