Authorities on Monday identified a woman who was fatally shot in southeast Los Angeles in what police called a possible gang-related attack that also left a man with a hand wound.
Tamala Hemphill, 24, died at a hospital, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
The shooting occurred shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday near Alameda and 14th streets, Los Angeles police Officer Sara Faden said.
The victims were in a vehicle when one or more suspects approached them and they were shot, police said.
The wounded man was treated at a hospital. No description was released of the suspect or suspects.
