A Nogales High School water polo player was in critical condition Thursday night after being pulled from the bottom of a pool following a playoff game in Chino today.

The 16-year-old boy was pulled from the water by his father about 5:40 p.m. after players left the pool for the Southern Section Division 7 first- round playoff game at Don Antonio Lugo High School and saw the victim at the bottom, ABC7 reported.

The boy was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, where he was in critical condition, the station reported.
