Arson is suspected in non-injury fires that damaged two long-vacant homes in Long Beach, according to investigators, who on Friday sought the public’s help in identifying whoever was responsible.

The fires were started about 8 p.m. Wednesday at side-by-side homes at 2910 and 2914 Hill St., said firefighter Jake Heflin, public information officer for the Long Beach Fire Department.

The homes have been vacant for about 10 years “and are at the center of ongoing legal proceedings between the City of Long Beach and the property owners,” Heflin said.

Anyone with information about the fires was urged to call Long Beach Fire Department investigators at (562) 570-2537.
