Two men are in custody Saturday in connection with the robbery of a woman reported to be an undercover Los Angeles Police officer.
The men, both in their 20s, have been booked for robbery, LAPD Sgt. Rudy Alaniz said.
The booking sheet said the men were accused of stealing the woman’s purse, he said.
She suffered contusions to her face and body, and was treated at the scene, Alaniz said.
An NBC4 report said the woman was an undercover LAPD officer participating in a prostitution sting. But Alaniz refused to confirm or deny this report for reasons of her security.
The NBC4 report said the woman was robbed of her service weapon and purse near the intersection of South Figueroa and West 70th Streets.
The robbery occurred at 9:30 p.m. Alaniz said, and was observed by officers, who chased the suspects.
The first suspect was caught nearby, soon afterward, Alaniz said. The second was found by a K9 unit inside a residence in the 400 block of West 67th Street at 11:45 p.m.
