Two men were shot near the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and one of them died from his wounds, police said Monday.

The shooting occurred at 43rd Street and Kansas Avenue around 9 p.m. Sunday, said Lt. Jeff Nolte of the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau Homicide unit.

A man wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans walked up to the two victims, Nolte said. There was a verbal disagreement followed by the shooting, he said.

Both victims were transported to a hospital, where one man was pronounced dead and the other had stable vital signs, he said, adding that the shooter fled the scene.

Neither victim was a gang member, Nolte said, and the motive for the shooting was not immediately determined.
