An “elderly gentleman” was en route to a fast-food restaurant Tuesday when he lost control of his Lincoln Town Car, which plowed into a nearby nail salon in Canoga Park, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.
The crash occurred at 21219 Sherman Way at 2:36 p.m., according to the LAFD’s Brian Humphrey, who said the front end of the sedan ended up inside the building.
No one inside the salon was injured, but it would have been a different story had a worker not just left her station to take a break, Humphrey said.
Paramedics checked out the driver and, other than being “clearly shaken,” he was not injured, Humphrey said. The motorist’s name was not released.
City building inspectors were sumoned to determine if the structural integrity of the building had been breached.
